With the waves and the wind
Their story
Yann and Eve's journey began in the jungle, far from home. In 2007, Yann, a 33-year-old career paratrooper, and Eve, a 25-year-old intensive care nurse and army reservist, started their adventure in Guyana with their newborn daughter, Axelle.
When Axelle, Yann and Eve's daughter, was misdiagnosed with cystic fibrosis and given a limited life expectancy, they made a bold decision to leave everything behind and show her the world's beauty. After purchasing and renovating a sailing boat, they set sail, crossing the Atlantic with Eve pregnant. They stopped in Panama for the birth of their son, Ewen, and to reassess Axelle's health.
It was then discovered that Axelle did not have cystic fibrosis but a severe egg allergy. Relieved, Yann and Eve chose not to return to their previous life but instead continued their global voyage.
Their journey took them across the Pacific Ocean, through the Torres Strait, Arafura Sea, Banda Sea, Java Sea, Malacca Strait, and Indian Ocean, including the Gulf of Bengal, Arabian Sea, Red Sea, and Mediterranean Sea. Over 40,000 miles sailed and a book titled "Growing Up Floating" about their life with children on board.
Experience the world with Yann and Eve and see how their incredible journey can inspire your own adventure.
Choosing Their Sailing Boat:
First sailing boat, TRIREME 43, a steel ketch
Yann and Eve selected a classic TRIREME 43, a steel ketch, as their sailing boat. They undertook a comprehensive restoration, stripping the boat down to the hull and discarding everything. Every component—from the engine and plumbing to the fittings, electricity, sails, and electronics—was meticulously refurbished and rebuilt by hand.

Choosing Their Sailing Boat:
FEELING 416Q, a fiberglass sloop
Boat Upgrade in French Polynesia:
In French Polynesia, Yann and Eve upgraded from their TRIREME 43 to a FEELING sailboat. This change involved moving from a 20-ton steel ketch with two masts to an 8-ton fiberglass yacht with a single mast. They had to relearn sailing techniques and master the art of quickly reefing the sails.
The FEELING also required extensive work, both inside and out, to ensure it met their standards for long voyages.
